Started my sisterlocks in August of 1998, while in San Diego. As of August 2003, the now 375 ... fine ... delicate, braids measure 16 -- 17-1/2 -- 21 inches in length.   Sisterlocks are not heavy like traditional locks. Tiny and delicate, they don't break off from the weight. Instead, they blow in the wind and continue to grow. Best thing I've ever done for myself.
